JOB DESCRIPTION

Install Acoustical Ceiling Grid, Ceiling Tile and various other Specialty Acoustical Products. An ability to work with others and receive instructions from a supervisor is required. All work should be completed in a clean and safe manner.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Each day, 99% of the time is spent between standing and walking. There is frequent (8 hours or more) twisting, stooping/bending, climbing ladders/scaffold, walking on uneven ground and working at heights of 12′ (or more) above ground. There is also occasional (3-4 hours) squatting, kneeling and climbing stairs. Less than 1 hour per day is spend crawling. 

An average of 1-25 pounds is lifted and carried between 7-8 hours each day and 25-120 pounds is listed and carried between 5-6 hours per day. The heaviest weight lifted while standing in place, or carried from one place to another, is a piece of sheetrock weight 120 pounds. It is estimated that sheetrock is lifted and/or carried 40 or more times per day.  

The individual weights of the most frequently used materials and equipment that require lifting and carrying are as follows:

  • Sheetrock – 120 pounds
  • Scaffold – 100 pounds
  • Framing – 60 pounds
  • Welding – 40 pounds
  • Vapor Barrier – 30 pounds 

It is estimated that reaching above shoulder height, at shoulder height and below shoulder height are all done 3-4 hours per day. 

It is imperative to have the ability to safely and competently operate the following tools and equipment: screw gun, Hilti Lo-V Gun, hammerdrill, chopsaw, skillsaw, drill, mitre saw, welder and cutting torch, scaffold, ladder and scissor list. 

A good sense of balance is also needed for use of the scaffold, ladders and scissor lifts. 

Problem solving skills to overcome obstacles during the process of the job and a good aptitude for math are also required. 

Should an applicant be hired for the above position, he/she must be a union member, in good standing, within two weeks of hire.

  • Lumbar: Base on Ave. of Age Group 21-45
  • Full Range of Motion: 5 of 7 Position
  • Lumbar Strength: 4 of 7 Positions above normal
  • Fatigue: Not less than 15%
  • Shoulders: Greater than 100 seconds
